How each game was tested

Each game ran once in a fresh RetroArch with an empty profile and a new console disk. A screenshot was taken at 10 s (boot), Start and A were pressed in turn every 2.5 s from 10.5 s, and a second screenshot was taken at 45 s (mid). From 30 s, every 20 s, a screenshot went to the in-game judge (Claude Haiku), which says whether it shows gameplay under the player's control. Two in-game verdicts in a row end the run, and that frame is final. Otherwise the run ends at 300 s with a final screenshot; 330 s is the hard limit. Games that stall on a menu get their own inputs (overrides). Results from hakuX-lr 0.19.0 used an earlier plan: 45 s with no judge.

Status is the furthest point seen in the screenshots, confirmed by review: Boot (started, nothing past loading), Intro (logos, movies, legal screens), Menu (title screen or menus, including loading screens and opening cutscenes of a started game), In-game (gameplay reached, with a problem seen that gets in the way of play: a crash or freeze, no sound, a low frame rate or a major graphics fault) and Playable (gameplay reached and nothing seen that gets in the way of play). Stages were judged from the screenshots, the measured frame rate and sound, and the log of one short run, not by playing through a game.

Outcome comes from the run: Completed (the plan ran and the emulator closed), Crash (the emulator or the core stopped by itself), Timeout (the hard limit or an unresponsive emulator), Needs manual input (set in review). A timeout does not establish incompatibility, and briefly reaching gameplay does not establish that a game is playable. Results apply only to the setup listed with each game.

Audio was recorded from a private sink and measured, not judged by ear. The level is the loudest 0.5 s RMS of the run. The recordings on this page are the last 46 s of each run, at 32 kbit/s Opus.

The Issues link searches the hakuX-lr issues for the game's title ID or its name; there may be no issue yet.
